I’m of Filipino blood, was born in Florida, raised in New York, educated in Philadelphia, and currently live in San Francisco.

I’ve been making mixtapes since I was 9 and was asked to DJ my first party when I was 10.  And at 10, I ruined my first record and turntable by trying to scratch without an eliptical needle nor a direct drive turntable.   My addiction to music started at an early age – at 6, when I started playing piano.  The addiction worsened at 9 when I added violin to my repertoire.  A sports injury in 2001 solidified my obsession with music when I discovered guitar.  There’s a story of how I went from being an orchestra/string instrument geek to a DJ but you’ll have to ask me about that one in person.

As a DJ, I believe in BASS… lower frequencies… the power of percussion.  Syncopation and polyrhythms are my aural saviors.  Hip hop is my foundation but funk, soul, and disco are the roads that lead to good hip hop. And if hip hop is my foundation, reggae is the ground it’s built on.  My personal anthem is Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam.  If you don’t already know the song, find it.  Now.

And what is it that I play?  GOOD MUSIC.  It could be The Knife, it could be Fela Kuti.  It could be Ghislain Poirier, it could be Outkast.  It could be M.I.A, it could be Ray Charles.  It could be Daft Punk, it could be Nas.  Get the idea?  If you haven’t heard me spin yet, expect funky bass lines & riffs, beats that induce involuntary head nodding, hip swaying & foot tapping, that favorite song you haven’t heard since nineteen ninety-something, eighty-something, or seventy-something, and there will be at least one song you’ve never heard but will definitely ask me the name of.
